Welcome to my new home office! This space has been a long time coming, and I'm so excited to finally share it in detail with you. As with all transformations, there was a process that led to the end result. I had a clear intention for how I wanted the space to feel, function, and look, and that ultimately drove the design. This project was special because it represents a new chapter in my life. It's where I'll be pursuing my passion for design, and I wanted to create a space that would inspire me and support my creative endeavors.
The Challenge
I was limited to a small, oddly shaped room with a strange nook carved out of one side. I also had a budget that didn't allow for my first choice: a custom built-in wall unit with all the bells and whistles. So, I had to get creative!

The Solution
I started by covering the existing purple hued latex paint with a lush, textural Limewash by Bauwerk in the shade of Cassava. The character, depth, and texture that this warm neutral lends the space was instantly transformative. Next, I started focusing on storage. I needed a place to keep all my samples, swatches, books, and magazines organized and easily accessible. I also wanted the space to feel tidy, clean, and curated.

Here's how I tackled the challenges and brought my vision to life:
Storage and Organization: I found the perfect solution in a pair of tall bookshelves with drawers from RH Teen. They were on final sale (bonus!), and their narrow dimensions fit the space perfectly. To add some personality, I lined the backs of the shelves with a fun gray ogee wallpaper from Spoonflower, created by print designer Tina Vey with Ottoman Brim Designs. The storage items of woven natural baskets and black fabric boxes provide the needed space for samples of fabrics, wallpapers, paint chips, and more.
Workspace and Desk: I knew a solid desk would feel too heavy in the small space, so I opted for a glass desk from Perigold. It was another great sale find, and it adds a touch of modern elegance to the room in addition to being visually transparent, allowing the space to breathe. Behind the desk, I placed a shagreen console, similar in dimension to the desk, to create visual balance.
Window Coverings and Rug: For the windows, I chose simple, soft gray drapes that complement the color palette, custom-made by a local vendor. The black hardware adds contrast and ties in with the black accents throughout the room. The rug was another lucky find from a Final Sale. It's a luxurious silk/linen blend that adds a touch of warmth and texture underfoot.
The Awkward Nook: Finally, there was the awkward nook. After considering several options, I landed on a comfortable and stylish lounge chair from CB2. The camel bouclé upholstery adds warmth and complements the wall color, while the rounded shape and bleached oak legs soften the overall look of the piece.

The Finishing Touches
To complete the space, I added a few finishing touches:
A tall, slender floor lamp with a large drum shade to play with scale.
A round black mirror to provide reflection, draw the eye and give some shape play.
A felt design board for easy reference of materials on projects.
A crisp white linen armchair on castors for the desk.
These elements add visual interest, texture, and personality to the room.

The Result
I couldn’t be happier with how my home office turned out. It's a space that is both stylish and functional, and it perfectly reflects my personal brand and the design aesthetic desired for the space. I wanted neutral, yet warm and textural with a touch of approachable “luxe”. I feel so grateful to create, dream, and achieve in this space.
